Heart Rate Watches

In this video I review Heart Rate Watches. The two watches that I have used have been the Garmin Fenix 3 and the Polar M400. Both have pluses and minuses.
Polar M400
Advantages:
- Zone lock: keeps your heart rate in a locked zone and beeps if you go out of it
- Great accuracy and maps
- Great battery life
- Easy to use software and updates
Disadvantages:
- You need to buy a footpod to use it on the treadmill as it doesn't have an accelerometer
- Although battery life is good it won't last over a few days and probably not anything over 50K
Advantages:
- Battery can last over a week without being charged, will go the long haul
- Easily updates to training peaks directly
- Has vibration and sound to alert you in and out of zones, after annoying beeps for a while you get tired and the vibration is welcome
- Map updates: you can program your race information right into the watch and it shows you a map
Disadvantages
- You still need a foot pod for accuracy
- Sometimes has too many options that you don't need
